State troopers make several arrests and find at least one concealed weapon at a DUI checkpoint in Seminole County. Troopers say the checkpoints could be cumbersome, but are necessary to target drunk drivers.
An incident at a local fast food restaurant resulted in a county woman’s arrest by Princeton police officers Tuesday afternoon. Officers arrested Debra R. Jewell of Ky. 672 at 4:52 p.m. on a charge of DUI.
The driver of a vehicle that slammed into a house in Landrum has been charged with DUI according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. SCHP says 19 year old Ashley M. James of Landrum lost control of the vehicle when she over corrected to avoid a pedestrian, ran off the road and into a house.

In an aggressive effort to reduce the incidents of driving under the influence, the Woodland Police Department will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on Friday night and early Saturday morning. The checkpoint comes just in time for graduation ceremonies at Pioneer and Woodland high schools.
On Friday May 23 the Fortuna Police Department conducted a DUI/driver's license checkpoint on the 200 block of North Fortuna Blvd. Ferndale police officers also assisted in running the checkpoint. Close to 300 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
