DUI arrests for March 16

Costa Mesa is going to try to conduct a DUI checkpoint Friday night after its previous two attempts in recent weeks had been canceled because of rain.

Special to the News-Press The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up their efforts to apprehend intoxicated and impaired drivers during the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday. It was a dangerous weekend on our valley's roadways, with almost 80 DUI arrests in a three-day period. News 3's Maria Silva reports that innocent lives were also lost this weekend due to drunk driving accidents.

Coachella police will staff a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, said police Sgt. John Hignight. But he did not say where the checkpoint would be.
