    At least two metropolitan-area police departments are planning DUI checkpoints for this weekend. Kansas City police will conduct a checkpoint beginning at 11 p.m. tonight or Saturday at a location in the city known for DUI-related crashes or arrests.

  • Petaluma plans DUI checkpoints tonight

    BY MARY CALLAHAN THE PRESS DEMOCRAT Police are planning two DUI checkpoints in the city of Petaluma on Friday night to deter and arrest drunken drivers and those driving without valid licenses. Police have not disclosed the locations of the checkpoints but said they should be up and running between about 5:30 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday — weather permitting.

  • Bradenton FHP trooper a top DUI enforcer

    Bart Pfankuch A Florida Highway Patrol trooper based in Bradenton was recognized this week by the agency as one of the top DUI enforcers on Florida's highways. Trooper Sean M. McCormick was honored by FHP as one of 15 officers statewide who made more than 100 drunken driving arrests during 2009, according to an FHP release.

    The numbers are in after the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office driving under the influence enforcement between March 12-18 brought in 13 DUI arrests. Compared to five last year, the numbers made a slight jump.
