The Highland
Police Department will be conducting a DUI/driver license
checkpoint tonight (July 9) on Victoria Avenue just south of Highland
Avenue from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
A DUI sobriety checkpoint
will begin Friday at an undisclosed location in Lee County. According to
the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, 24
fatalities and 464 injuries in Lee County were alcohol-related in
2008.
Edward Dixon, the driver involved
in a fatal Eisenhower Expressway drag race crash early Sunday on the
West Side that killed one man, Maurice Horton, and injured two other
people, has been charged with DUI.
Two people are behind bars
after a DUI checkpoint in Santa Maria overnight. Santa Maria
police officers set up a checkpoint in the 900 block of North Broadway
from 6 p.m. yesterday to 1:00a.m. today. Officers say four people were
evaluated for DUI, and two of them were arrested. 13 drivers were
ticketed for driving without a license, and one person was cited for
driving on a suspended license ...
• DUI: At 9:14 p.m. July 1 in the 27200 block of
Pacific Highway South, a suspect caused a multiple vehicle collision
that resulted in major injuries. The driver left the scene but was
located later. A DUI was issued.
The LAPD will be
conducting a DUI checkpoint in South Los Angeles tonight as part
of their ongoing effort to remove intoxicated drivers from the streets
and to educate the public about the dangers of drunk driving. Tonight's
checkpoint will be set up on Manchester Blvd. between Hoover and
