Missouri DUI Penalties
If you have been arrested for drunk driving in Missouri, your driver's license will be automatically suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles 15 days following your arrest, no matter what your lawyer is able to do about the criminal charges. To have your driver's license reinstated, you will need to enroll in a Substance Abuse Traffic Offender Program (SATOP), which is an eight- to 12-week course.
Depending on where you were arrested, our lawyers may be able get your DWI charges reduced to a less serious violation.
- Suddarth & Koor:
Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
are criminal charges used to prosecute drivers who operated a motor
vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The difference between Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under
the Influence (DUI) is how the state labels the offense. Missouri labels
this offense DWI, while other states, such as Illinois, label this
offense DUI.
